Kingston, Ontario has a history as old as Canada. It was in this place the first prime minister of Canada lived after immigrating from Scotland. Apparently was poised to be the capital of Canada but for some reason lost it to Ottawa. I joined Queen's University in the year of 2004 and moved to Kingston from India. Having lived there for almost 4 years, I have to say I have some of my best memories from Kingston. It is a small city of around 125k people.
It has two big universities 1) Queens University and 2) Royal military college of Canada. Both these universities are close to the Ontario lake which makes the student guetto just fews steps away from the beach.
Also, a college by name St. Lawrence college where I used to take my french classes is situated in the middle of the city. Also there is a big hospital that goes by the name of Kingston General hospital and there used to be a big penitentiary which apparently was closed later on. The downtown is a small one around a street called princess street and close to the ontario lake beach area. The city hall is amazing and the summer market close to the city is one of the best tourist attraction.
