Picnic spots ,shopping malls, and eateries in Scarborough, Toronto
Scarborough present on the east end of Toronto is now growing rapidly, thanks to the subway connectivity and ever growing Toronto population and sprawling Condos. Cheaper housing back in the days made immigrants move in here and now a days I guess it is undergoing gentrification because people of every kind are getting pushed away from downtown Toronto. I moved to Scarborough couple of years ago and now have made it my home. It is a convenient place to live. Subway goes all the way to Scarborough town center, there are lot of shopping malls, picnic spots, beaches, eateries, etc. Below are my favorite places in Scarborough.
1) Beaches- We all need a beach to head to in Summer. Thank full I live very close to Scarborough bluffs which is one of the best beach in Toronto. It is very scenic, had hiking trails, beach, park, etc. On a busy summer weekend it is very hard to get in but always worth a try.
2) Parks - Thompson memorial park is my favorite in Scarborough. This park is also popular for the rib fest that happens every year. There is a separate space for dogs, kids playground, etc. You can come with family and friends and BBQ and spend the whole day.
3) Shopping malls: Scarborough Town Center is my favorite mall in Scarborough. Not the hippest place to shop but you can get some cheap deals there. You can find walmart, sears, bay, and lot of clothing shops. Food court is pretty busy and big. Eglinton Square mall and Cedarbrae mall are also not bad.
4) Eateries: Scarborough is hub for South asian and Chinese food. I love the Hakka places in Scarborough. Fredericton, Lucky, Spicy Dragon are some of the best Hakka chinese food restaurants. There is also a mandarin restaurant on Eglinton. For south Indian and Lankan food there is Sarawana Bhawan, Anjapper, Nilgiris, Bombay palace, etc. There are lot of small take out places in every corner.
